Samsung QN85B Series Neo QLED 4K Smart TV (2022)

This is not the largest TV in the house, but it’s certainly the best.We set this up, and I’m floored with the features, the smart interface, the picture quality and even the remote.We’ve generally stuck with LG televisions, but I think that trend ends here. The Samsung NEO QLED TV has an easy setup process. Immediately on powering it on, it gave the option to complete the setup using my phone. I scanned the QR code on the screen and actually thought that it was broken – setup did nothing. After a few minutes, I backed out, connected the TV to wifi and then it connected via SmartThings. I have a Galaxy phone, so it automatically registered the TV to my Samsung account and completed the product registration for me. There was an immediate software update needed, but it took less than five minutes. Overall, the entire process of turning the TV on and then being able to watch took less than ten minutes and was mostly painless.Once the setup was complete, the TV automatically turned to the Samsung TV plus channels. The picture quality is stunning, but I didn’t even try taking a picture of it – a photo won’t get it across. We have 4k TVs, but the picture quality of this TV is far superior to our other two. Nature documentaries on this screen are incredible.The screen is also so thin, and the bezel is nearly non-existent.The TV has a cool feature where when you plug in something – a soundbar, a game console, or even a DVD player – it automatically recognizes the device and also automatically sets up the remote to work with it.And the remote! It’s thin and a little difficult to hold, but the features are fantastic. It’s a universal smart remote that can automatically pair itself with new devices. It has a rechargeable battery and a solar panel on the back that can charge the remote with standard indoor lighting. The battery will never die. And if it ever gets low, it can be recharged quickly via USB C. The controls on the remote are less intuitive than on other remotes. The volume and channel buttons took me a few seconds to figure out. You don’t press the button, you rock the button up or down.Now, to the interface – we often know exactly what we want to watch, but will spend 20 minutes just trying to find it. We have multiple streaming services, and it’s tedious to try to find the one that has your movie for free. Samsung’s interface allows you to search for a title, and it tells you which streaming service has it, if it’s free or a rental, and the cost. That feature alone makes me want to slowly phase out all of our older TVs for Samsung models. The smart interface is much more intuitive than LG or Roku.We haven’t tried out the assistant features yet (re: Google Home or Alexa) and probably won’t.Ambient mode is also a really nice feature. Samsung has a stock of images and videos that you can have displayed on the TV when not actively viewing. It’s not as nice as Art Mode on The Frame, but it’s still a nice and relaxing feature.The only drawbacks I have for the TV:1) The remote is too narrow. If you have big hands, it might make you mad. And the buttons on the remote aren’t immediately intuitive.2) There is no art mode! I know it isn’t The Frame, but it would be wonderful if Samsung put Art Mode on all of their high end TV models. There is an ambient mode, but it’s not quite the same.Those two drawbacks don’t even take away half a star. It’s a wonderful TV. I’ll update this as we continue to use additional features.

I blame myself for foolishly buying another Samsung TV after my previous $1800 65″ set abruptly failed after just 18 months, 6 months out of warranty. After a $100 service call and much time on the phone with Samsung support, it was decided the +$1,000 repair estimate was too much and a new set was needed. Samsung offered an “I’m sorry” but no other consideration. Figured I would hedge my bet on the new set with a 4 year extended warranty but didn’t expect the Playskool designed remote control and worthless screws too short to attach the TV stand. Had to use longer screws from the old tv. The solar powered remote is junk, plain and simple, hence the one star on Smart features. Amazingly touchy, it was nearly impossible to control the cursor and set up streaming services. Luckily I was able to pair the Comcast remote to the TV and hope to never use the ridiculous Samsung device. The picture looks good but haven’t really watched it yet as it took over 2 1/2 hours just to attach the stand and set the system up. The last set had factory settings that magnified the “soap opera” effect and hoping that is not the case on the new set. Again, my stupid error buying Samsung a second time. Never again. Gave 3 stars due to a good picture and an awful everything else.

I ordered the 55″ QN85B to use as a computer monitor, because it was the brightest IPS monitor on the market, with the best anti-reflective coating (at least based on my research). It certainly delivered. Previously, I was struggling to see anything on my 43″ 4k Dell monitor, because I have direct sunlight hitting the screen at a 45 degree angle. The anti-reflective coating on the QN85B handles indirect reflections nearly perfectly, so the image is perfectly clear, whereas the Dell monitor is completely illegible. I can highly recommend this TV if you are in a situation where sunlight will directly be hitting your screen at a side angle. Based on the research at rtings, it seems like QN90 has superior contrast compared to QN85 in a dark room, but I think the QN85 comes out on top in direct sunlight, due to better suppression of indirect reflections. Though I cannot directly support this claim (as I don’t own both TVs), I can confirm that the QN85B performs splendidly in direct sunlight.

TV is great but it stopped working right shortly after set up. After calls to Dish Network, Samsung, and Best Buy we were unable to top the tv from shutting down and then restarting. My wife found a post that said to turn off the powers saving and sleep timer functions. TV has worked fine since than.

The 75” QN85B Samsung Neo QLED 4K Smart TV is a work of ART. We were able to easily put together the stand and setup the TV after carefully unboxing it. It was well protected in the package and we are very impressed. Before I could even get situated and relaxed, the TV had set everything up and we were watching TV quicker than I thought. After setting up this beauty, I can’t help but notice the picture colors are so vibrant, bright and crisp. There are soo many options to choose from to entertain us while watching this TV. From the Streaming options, Gaming, Multi-View, this TV has it all. Being able to change the settings is soo simple and can all be done by using the Smart Solar Remote. This remote is very thin, well designed and doesn’t have all the un-necessary buttons/options to make it cluttered. I like that we can charge it with a cable or via solar (sun) and no longer buying batteries is great. I like how easy the home screen is laid out with everything one can select to stay entertained. Navigating thru all the options gives us more then we could have ever expected in this 75” QN85B Samsung Neo QLED 4K Smart TV. This TV is very thin, it blends in very well in our living room and can be seen at any angle. We no longer have to go to a Theatre, we have it all in this 75” QN85B Samsung Neo QLED 4K Smart TV. Watching a movie is such a pleasant experience and having the 75 inch screen is such a great experience all in the comfort of my living room. Samsung really developed a high end, highly operational and functional TV that will keep us occupied. Being able to control all our devices with the smart remote is quite the improvement. This TV is so smart that during setup, it recognized all of our connected devices and quickly set them up, the TV even notified us that our connected sound bar was in the wrong HDMI slot and let us know which it should be in, how cool is that. Overall, this 75” QN85B Samsung Neo QLED 4K Smart TV is brilliant and viewing content in 4K is a very nice step up from what I previously owned. Our favorite feature thus far has to be the multi-view, we tried it out watching a cable station and YouTube and WOW, this is such a great feature and now I can watch 2 pieces of content at the same time and not feel like I’m missing anything from another source. GREAT TV, Samsung is the BEST ! I have received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest opinion.

this TV is amazing! the setting up was easy, I did it with SmartThings app. The picture quality is wonderful just like its sound. The picture is bright, sharp and clear. After installing the Tv I noticed that the TV is a little tilted backward which at first I thought there may be a defect in TV stand. But after searching on Internet I found that there is a clever design behind that to give a better view. the remote control is really cool. it is very small and feels good in hand. there is solar panel behind the remote control to eliminates the need for changing battery soon. The only thing that I sometimes think could be better is tv response rate, when I press the button to open Netflix or changing the channel. I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest opinion.
